program and community outreach
Support We Provide
The Labrador Friendship Centre’s Programs and Community Outreach Department is dedicated to fostering an inclusive and welcoming space for our community. Through a wide range of programs and events, we promote social connection, wellness, and community support for Indigenous and non-Indigenous residents of Happy Valley-Goose Bay and surrounding communities. All our programming is designed to strengthen community engagement and support holistic well-being.
Community Outreach program
Our Community Outreach Program supports individuals and families with accessible services and resources, fostering well-being, connection, and empowerment in a safe, inclusive environment
Seniors Van
Our Seniors Van provides safe and reliable transportation for seniors to attend appointments, run errands, and participate in community events. This service helps older adults stay active, independent, and connected to the community.
Food Bank
Our Food Bank provides essential grocery support to individuals and families facing food insecurity. We offer a safe, welcoming space where community members can access nutritious food and basic necessities during times of need.
Indigenous Justice Navigator
Indigenous people face higher and longer justice system involvement due to colonialism’s lasting impacts, underscoring the need for culturally appropriate supports.
Indigenous Health Navigator
The Indigenous Health Navigator helps Indigenous individuals access and navigate healthcare, ensuring they feel safe and supported during hospital visits, mental health care, prescriptions, and more.
Housing & Homelessness Support
We provide compassionate support to individuals and families experiencing or at risk of homelessness. Our services include housing assistance, referrals, and basic needs support helping people find stability, safety, and a path forward.
The Programs and Community Outreach Department recognizes the importance of partnerships and collaborations. We strive to build relationships with like-minded community organizations and individuals to ensure our programming is inclusive and far-reaching.
The Programs and Community Outreach Department often looks for volunteers to assist with programs, services, and other initiatives. If you would be interested in volunteering, please touch base with a member of our team below.
